Supervisory Referral

Employees challenged by emotional, financial and legal troubles are absent more often, utilize more healthcare benefits, file higher rates of disability claims and grievances, have more workplace accidents, create supervisory problems, disrupt their work group, damage morale, and are more likely to abuse substances. These employees can also be top performers who are going through tough times.

The Supervisory Referral Program enables the employee's supervisor to discuss the situation with an EAP consultant, and refer the employee for counseling which may help the employee develop coping skills that will improve his or her performance.

Often, a few brief coaching sessions focused on confidential and timely problem identification and the use of constructive confrontation is all that's needed.
